“Hi,

I don’t know how to start so here’s my story straight forward. I love running a lot. I am a doctor in Seattle- pathologist, my work is to sit whole day and look trough microscope at a samples and decide whether the person has some kind of disease or not. So few years ago I start running almost every day in order to avoid any back pain, I am also very environmental orientated so I go to work with my bike almost every day. So far I had few pairs of Adidas and Nike running trainers but a month ago my Japanese college recommends me the Asics. And I decide to buy both the Asics Gel Nimbus 12 and 13. I had no idea what should I buy and the assistant in the shop was not very helpful either (that’s why I do shopping online more and more). Generally I knew that if I choose neutral shoe it will fit me quite well and that’s what I did. First I made a few runs with the Nimbus 13 and the difference compared to my old Nike trainers was significant. By that time I couldn’t say if there’s a positive or negative effect. However after 5 or 6 more days running I found out no pain in my knees and ankles. Generally my legs feel much better and there was no sign of tiredness. That was the moment that I realize how great this shoes are. Then I tried for a week the Asics Gel Nimbus 12. They are also very good. The difference is very small compared to the Nimbus 13. I found that the 12 are better for running on grass and soft surfaces while the Asics Gel-Nimbus 13 is good for hard roads as their cushioning is much better. I hope I was useful.

“I had the Kayano 16s and decided to try Nimbus 13 because of the great reviews. What I can say from my experience is that the first few runs the feeling was very weird. I actually was not happy with them but I was on holidays so I didn’t have my other running shoes. Therefore, I was forced to train with Asics Nimbus 13. After few runs my foot starts to feel much better. Finally, after about 20 miles running I was have the same feeling as the one reviews were about. It’s probably because Kayano and Nimbus are very different and also the customization of Nimbus according to your foot is at much higher level. That means that more time is necessary and the initial feeling may not be exceptional (from what I found out it depends from your foot). However if you are beginner runner that’s the best shoes that you may choose, as they are exciting with stability so the chance of a rookie injury (actually even the experience joggers often twisted their ankles) is lowered significantly.

On other side, I have a friend in the gym that is wearing Nimbus since the 11^th version and he is always happy with his new shoes. I think once you get used to the Asics Nimbus style then you don’t have any problems. I will be able to give you more information on this topic when I get Gel Nimbus 14 next month.

I just want to briefly share my experience of jogging with Asics Nimbus so you can have a better idea why they are so special. Having injuries and complaining of pain in my ankles and knees since I was a kid there was very little chance for me to do sport more intensively. However, I moved to live from Japan to USA and so the food and lifestyle became very unhealthy. The sport at least 2 times a week became necessary in order to maintain good form and stay fit. I start running with a pair of old trainers that I used to go to a mountain or just to have a walk in the park. As you can imagine these shoes were very old so in practice there was no cushioning, also the stability was quite bad. This struggle continue around 2 weeks (may be on my 5^th or 6^th run) until I twisted very badly my ankle. I was not able even to walk for around a month. After recovering the injury I decided to research and found out that for beginner like me the best option is to by running shoes with good cushioning, which are also very stable on same time. Asics Nimbus 12 was the first shoe that I bought especially for running. I feel huge difference since the beginning. However the shoes will look as new from the outside. This is common for most of the Asics and other quality brands.

However, I believe that the shoes are great just they are and there’s no need to do that and this could be more as advice for people that have certain problem or very specific foot.
